For people who go and read the paper instead of the summary.

About this role

Drone technology moves faster than any one team can track. New airframes, new regulation, new results in autonomy and perception — most of it published, and most of it never read by the people it would help. R&D is where that gets turned into something the team can act on.

You will read across papers, standards and regulation, work out what is genuinely new versus what is a press release, and write it up so an engineer can use it on Monday. Some of it will feed product decisions directly; some will just stop us from rebuilding something that already exists.

The skill being tested is judgement, not volume. Anyone can collect twenty links. Saying which three matter and why is the job.

Requirements
  • Comfort reading technical papers outside your own subject
  • Clear written English — this role is mostly writing
  • Ability to summarise without losing what matters
  • Curiosity that survives a topic getting difficult
  • Basic data literacy for reading results critically
Bonus — good to have
  • Any published or academic writing
  • Familiarity with Indian drone regulation (DGCA)
  • A technical background in aerospace, electronics or CS
What you will build
  • Research briefs that feed product and engineering decisions
  • A working picture of where drone technology is actually going
What you will walk away with
  • Reading primary sources rather than summaries of them
  • Telling a real result apart from a well-funded announcement
  • Writing research up so it changes a decision instead of sitting in a folder
This brief was written from the role title. If the scope is different from what you have in mind, tell us on the call — the role is new enough that it is still taking shape.
