CAD Modeling and Simulation Intern
For engineers who want the airframe right before it is cut.
About this role
Every gram on a drone is argued over, because every gram is flight time. Before anything gets machined or printed, the frame, the mounts and the enclosures exist as models — and whether they hold up gets decided in simulation, not on the test field where a failure costs an aircraft.
You will model components and assemblies, run the stress and thermal checks that say whether a design survives, and iterate with the hardware team as the requirements move. Then you will see the parts get made, which is the part that teaches you how wrong a model can be.
The gap between a clean CAD file and a part that fits is where this role lives. Tolerances, manufacturability, and the mount that is perfect until someone has to reach the screw behind it.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of a CAD package (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA or similar)
- Fundamentals of mechanical design and materials
- Exposure to simulation — FEA, CFD or thermal
- Ability to read and produce a manufacturing drawing
- Hands-on mindset with prototyping and testing
Bonus — good to have
- Drone, RC aircraft or robotics build experience
- 3D printing or machining experience
- Composites or lightweight structure work
What you will build
- Airframes, mounts and enclosures for drone platforms
- Simulation studies that decide a design before it is built
What you will walk away with
- Designing parts for a machine where weight is the binding constraint
- Simulation as a decision tool, not a report you generate at the end
- What a design misses until it is physically in your hand
Why Join BeRAM Drones?
Small team, real ownership, and products that fly.
Work directly with founders
No layers, no ticket queue. You sit with the people making the calls and your input lands the same week.
Build real drone-tech products
UTMS, drone delivery systems and AI pipelines that ship — not throwaway training exercises.
Path to a long-term role
Interns who deliver get extended, and the strongest get offered full-time positions on the core team.
Certificate + LOR
On completion you get a certificate and a Letter of Recommendation that describes what you actually built.
Fast-paced culture
Ideas go from whiteboard to prototype in days. If you like moving fast, you will feel at home.
Inside an incubator
Based at RCOEM TBI, Nagpur — surrounded by founders, labs and mentors you can actually walk over to.
