SPH Aviation Pvt Ltd has announced the launch of iQuantara, a dedicated defence-focused brand aimed at developing indigenous drone technologies and integrated unmanned aerial systems for India’s growing security, surveillance and defence requirements. The launch marks SPH Aviation’s strategic expansion into the defence and aerospace sector and aligns with India’s broader push toward self-reliance in advanced defence technologies under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
Developed as an evolution of the company’s earlier defence-oriented initiatives under the SPH Aviation identity, iQuantara has been introduced with a sharper strategic focus and a broader vision to scale advanced drone technologies for military and strategic applications. The newly launched brand will focus on the design, engineering, manufacturing and deployment of next-generation unmanned aerial systems tailored for Indian defence operations. The company said the solutions will support a wide range of applications including surveillance and intelligence gathering, tactical command and control systems, swarm-based operational missions, border monitoring, GIS-enabled mapping, logistics support, emergency response and autonomous UAV operations.
iQuantara plans to leverage the wider drone technology ecosystem and manufacturing capabilities developed by AITMC Ventures Ltd (AVPL International), enabling faster development and deployment of advanced indigenous systems. The company has outlined plans to manufacture more than 500 drones over the next year while scaling annual production capacity to approximately 1,000 units. In parallel, iQuantara intends to strengthen its research and development capabilities in areas including telemetry systems, remote-control technologies, autonomous flight operations, data exchange systems and auto-piloting technologies.
The initiative comes at a time when India is accelerating efforts to build a stronger domestic defence manufacturing ecosystem through increased localisation, indigenous innovation and strategic technology partnerships. According to the company, iQuantara aims to support this transformation by developing scalable, mission-ready drone platforms designed and manufactured entirely within India.
The brand also reflects AITMC Ventures” broader ambition to evolve into a multi-domain deep-technology enterprise serving both civilian and strategic sectors. The company stated that it is actively collaborating with defence research organisations and premier Indian Institutes of Technology to accelerate innovation, testing and deployment of advanced drone systems.
Commenting on the launch, Lt Gen (Dr) RK Anand, Chief Executive Officer of iQuantara, said the platform has been created to address the rapidly evolving requirements of modern defence operations through reliable and integrated indigenous drone technologies.
