DJI O4 Ground Station Launches to Expand Wide-Area Transmission for DJI Enterprise Drones

DJI has launched the O4 Ground Station, a wide-area transmission system for its enterprise drones built around a 12-antenna array and automatic band selection. A new Gateway Mode connects directly to FlightHub 2, while Relay Mode extends reach into offline areas.

Compatible with DJI's latest docks, enterprise and delivery drones, the station is aimed at public safety teams running search-and-rescue missions in difficult terrain, and at round-the-clock unattended inspection and survey operations in remote locations.

Hardware and transmission

The RF unit's high output is intended to boost signal penetration and coverage, holding a link through dense urban obstructions, while an optimised signal-to-noise ratio improves receiver sensitivity enough to recover usable signals in complex electromagnetic environments.

Its 12 internal and external antennas each carry horizontal and vertical polarisation, delivering omnidirectional high-gain coverage so the signal is captured continuously regardless of where the drone sits relative to the station. Positioning data stays at centimetre level throughout.

In congested urban RF environments the station shifts automatically across sub-2 GHz, 2.4 GHz, 5.2 GHz, 5.8 GHz and other bands to route around interference and hold a stutter-free video feed. In semi-obstructed settings such as urban canyons or dense canopy, an integrated high-gain RTK module acquires satellite signals by tracking 19 frequencies across five global satellite systems.

Gateway Mode: 30 km from a Dock 3

In Gateway Mode the station connects directly to DJI FlightHub 2 for low-latency, high-bandwidth video. For DJI Dock 3, this extends coverage up to 30 km. Operators can pair it with FlightHub 2 Virtual Cockpit to fly the drone remotely, and preset routes can be manually overridden inside the coverage area for faster response to multi-point tasks.

Flight data feeds a Signal Map that visualises weak coverage zones, which lets operators place ground stations more precisely. A smart power management system hibernates the unit when no drone is connected, drawing 7 W on standby.

Relay Mode for offline ground

Building on the D-RTK 3 Relay Fixed Deployment Version, Relay Mode covers offline areas such as valleys or urban environments with severe signal obstruction. Sited at a high point, the station extends the drone's video transmission range and connects sequentially to multiple remote controllers and DJI Docks, raising utilisation of hardware already deployed.

Built to be left outdoors

The station carries an IP67 rating against water and dust and is rated to operate from -40°C to 55°C. Proprietary components and a grounding design mitigate lightning damage to the EN/IEC 61643-21 Category C standard.

Fanless passive cooling and a self-recovery mechanism let it resume operation automatically after power outages or software faults, which is what removes the need for on-site reboots at unattended sites. For off-grid locations it can run from DJI Power solar solutions or third-party photovoltaic systems.

Over MQTT, the station can connect to third-party Remote ID or ADS-B receivers, giving real-time awareness of nearby unmanned and manned aircraft around a DJI Dock 3.

DJI says the O4 Ground Station is available through authorised DJI Enterprise dealers. The company notes that its performance figures were measured on a production model in a controlled environment, and that some features require specific DJI drones and may not be available in every country.
